This 21 days tour will take you through the most iconic places of the Great Silk Road, which for centuries was connecting China with Eastern and Western World. For thousands of years endless caravans loaded with luxurious silk, expensive herbs and gems had been travelling along this ancient trading route. Caravanserais, majestic mosques and world known monuments were created along the Great Silk Road. This tour will take you across the original route and you will explore the legendary history of the area by yourself. The tour starts in Kyrgyzstan, where you will visit the beautiful parts of this mountain country, Issyk Kul Lake, the biggest mountain lake in Central Asia, Son Kul Lake where you can meet real nomads.  Further you will travel to China explore the old city of Kashgar with its famous Sunday bazaar, high mountain lake Karakol and mysterious Shipton’s Arch. The tour will be full of breathtaking views, high passes, and Asian hospitality. The second part of the tour will take you to the southern part of Kyrgyzstan with immense Alai valley and ancient Osh city. Osh borders with Uzbekistan, so you will cross the border to a golden valley of Fergana and further visit all iconic places in this country which so many times mentioned as a heart of the Great Silk Road.

  • Day 1 - Bishkek city (Kyrgyzstan)

    Program
    Your guide will pick you up at Manas International Airport and accompany you to Bishkek City (30 min. drive), where you will start the day with a breakfast. The entire day is dedicated to a guided Bishkek City Tour, including lunch. The tour includes the visiting of the central Ala-Too Square, Duboviy Park (Oak Park), Pobeda Square (Victory Square), the History Museum, National philharmonic, Oriental Bazaar, Art Gallery and many others places of interest. Traditional dinner will be served at 7 p.m. You will spend the night in Ak-Keme Hotel****.   • Day 2 - Bishkek - Issyk-Kul Lake

    Program
    You will start the day with a breakfast. Then you will be transferred to the celestial Issyk-Kul Lake (200 km), the second largest alpine lake in the world (1608m.above sea level). The Lake is also called “the pearl of Central Asia”. On our way, we will visit the Burana Tower (minaret from the 11th century) and an open air museum of Balbans (stone warriors). After having taken a traditional lunch, we continue our way to the lake. As soon as we are in Avrora Hotel you will have a rest on the northern beach of the lake where you can lie on the warm sand or swim in the lake. Thanks to the salty water, Lake Issyk Kul possesses curative qualities.   • Day 3 - Issyk-kul - Karakol

    Program
    The day starts with a breakfast at 8 o’clock. Then you have free time to swim in the lake till 12 pm. Afterwards, you will start your trip to Karakol city by car (200 km). On the way, we will make a short break to give you the opportunity to visit ancient stone inscriptions (dating back to 800 B.C.), including the local museum. You will have a second stop during the trip at 12 o’clock, where you can enjoy lunch in a relaxed atmosphere, before continuing our way to Karakol city along the northern shore of the sparkling pearl of Central Asia, which’s beauty you will be able to enjoy to the full during another break, where you go on a one hour cruise on a steam boat. Then you will be transferred to Karakol city. National dinner will be at 8 p.m. Night in the Yak Tour Guesthouse.   • Day 4 - Karakol - Tamga

    Program
    You will be served breakfast at 8 o’clock. The entire morning is dedicated to a guided Karakol City Tour. The tour includes the visit of the Dungan mosque. One of its highlights is the fact that it is built in Chinese style without using a single metal nail. This will be followed by the visit of an old wooden Orthodox Church. Later, you will visit the museum of M.V. Prejvalsky, one of the world’s greatest explores. His biggest achievements were the crossing of the great desert Taklamakan and the discovery of more than 4000 animals, including the Horse of Prejevalsky. We will end the City Tour with a traditional lunch and leave Karakol at 1 pm, starting our way to the impressive Jeti Oguz, the gorge of 7 red rocks (30km). You will see the Broken Heart Mountain and the Sanatorium (where you can take a hydro shower or get a massage). Then off to explore the Jeti Oguz valley (Yuri Gagarin’s holidays house, yurts, alpine vegetation) or Chong Kyzyl Suu valley with its hot spring water and geophysics station built in 1948. Then transfer to Tamga village. Tamga was a place where ancient Tibetan monks lived in the 13th century. Dinner will be served in the Tamga Guesthouse, where you will also spend the night; sauna optional.   • Day 5 - Tamga - Son Kul Lake

    Program
    After breakfast we start our drive to the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan Son Kul Lake. Lunch will be taken on the way. Son Kul Lake is surrounded by mountains and it is the highest alpine lake in Kyrgyzstan, situated at an altitude of 3013 meters above sea level. Kyrgyz nomads started to come to this wonderful area with their families for rest and relaxation. Herders of the Naryn region come to the lake to use it as a pastureland. After our arrival, you will be free to explore and enjoy the virgin nature of the lake and its surroundings. Dinner and overnight in nomadic collapsible dwellings - yurts. It is made of a wooden skeleton, covered with felt coverings. Yurts are built without nails.   • Day 6 - Son Kul Lake

    Program
    At 9 am is your breakfast. Free time at Son-Kul Lake, where you will have the opportunity to explore its nature on your own. You can ride along the lake on a horse, or just relaxing in the atmosphere of the wild, but calm nature. Lunch will be served at 2 pm. Then you will see also ancient petrogliphs and ritual stones of shamans. It is a great chance to get acquainted with nomadic traditions and culture. National dinner will be served in original nomadic houses - yurts. You will spend the night in yurts as nomads do.   • Day 7 - Son Kul - Tash Rabat (270 km)

    Program
    After packing your backpacks, you will be served breakfast at 8 o’clock Then you will be transferred to the Tash Rabat Caravanserai on the Great Silk Road (Stone Castle from the 14th century). The building is a unique one. Tash Rabat is located at the very heart of Tian Shan Mountains and built of stones inside a mountain at a height 3200 m above sea level. In total there are 31 rooms in the mountain. The thickness of the walls is 1 m. There are also underground prison cells, where thieves were kept in ancient times. Traditional dinner will be served at 7 pm. You will spend the night in yurts near by the Tash Rabat caravanserai.   • Day 8 - Tash-Rabat - Kashgar (China)

    After a straightening breakfast you will be transferred to Kashgar via the picturesque Torugart pass, where our Chinese guide will meet you (English-speaking). Torugart pass is the border with China. Almost all traders of the Great Silk Road were passing this place. Then you will be transferred to the capital of the Silk Road: Kashgar. You will have a Chinese dinner at 7 pm. You will spend the night in Seman Hotel***.     Breakfast is served at 8 o’clock. Today you will visits the Id Kah Mosque fronted by the busy square, the largest one in China that was built in 1442. Afterwards you will see the Abakh Hoja Tomb, built in 1640. It is a reminiscence of the Central Asian artistic style. The site is also known as the Xiang Fei (Fragrant Concubine) Tomb in memory of Abakh Khoja's granddaughter, Iparhan, who was the Fragrant Concubine of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty. You will roam through the colorful national street that assembles rich and original workshops of making uyghur’s handcrafts. Traditional dinner will be served at 7 p.m. You will spend the night in Seman Hotel***.     Today is Sunday and you will visit one of the greatest markets of Central Asia, the traditional Sunday Bazaar, where various Moslem nationalities in colorful costumes arrive by donkey cart,by horse or on foot,to bargain for animals, fruits, clothing, electronic devices and household goods. We’ll spend most of the day there immersing ourselves in the activities. It's a photographer’s paradise as foods animals, textiles, and metalwork are bought and sold in this vast open-air market. Through our interpreters, we'll learn about the Uyghur people and you will bargain with them for their handiwork. Traditional dinner will be served at 7 p.m. You will spend the night in Seman Hotel***.   • Day 11 - An excursion to the Karakol Lake

    The day starts with breakfast at 8 o’clock. In the morning we will drive to the Karakuri Lake. The drive takes 5-6 hours through a breathtaking scenery of high mountain pastures and snow-covered peaks. At the base of Muztagh Ata Mountain (7,545 m above sea level), Karakuri Lake is situated (3,770 m above sea lvel)). It is a majestic blue glacier lake that is fed by the massive, century-old glaciers above it. Karakol Lake in the shadows of Muztagh Ata Mountain is also a meeting place for the local Kyrgyz nomads, who use it as a summer pasture. Compared to the dry and sky-jetting Karakoram, the Pamirs are very gentle, green and wide open.   • Day 12 - Exploring Shipton Arch

Afterwards you will be transferred to Shipton’s Arch, where we will set up a base camp at the portals of the Kara Tagh and then we will walk through its labyrinthine fissures to the base of Tushuk Tash.   • Day 13 - Kashgar - Irkishtam Pass (270kms)

    Your breakfast will be served at 8 o’clock. After breakfast you will be transferred to the Irkishtam Pass. This pass is the Chinese-Kyrgyz border, over which you will enter Southern Kyrgyzstan.
