We recommend spending a few days more to visit Turkmenistan for a wonderful combination of your Central Asia tours with the country of deserts and oases, unique historical and cultural traditions of the Great Silk Road. Your journey will start from the biggest city in Central Asia –Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan and will lead you through the iconic cities of Samarkand and Bukhara, where you will cross the border to one of the most closed countries in the world-Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Central Asia. This is a country of contrasts: ruins of brilliant cities of almost all powerful ancient Asian and Persian dynasties, endless steppes and the Great Karakum Desert, skullcaps and pilaf, Akhal-Teke horses and colorful folk weddings, beautiful famous carpets made in ancient style,  famous  silk, and natural melons. Our professional guide will meet you at the border and help you with all border formalities, assist with your baggage collection and filling declaration forms. After all formalities you will continue your way to Mary. On your way you will have several stops to see amazing sand dunes of Karakum Desert. Later you will visit the capital  - Ashgabat, a modern marvel city with unique characteristics of its own, and drive to Uzbek border passing by Konyeurgench - the capital of Khorezmshahs (III-XVI cc) listed by UNESCO World Heritage Book. Our professional stuff will meet at the Uzbek side, who will take you to charming Kiva, which is a truly amazing open-air museum.

Drive ~300km & 5 h/d/d to Mary with en route to stops to see amazing sand dunes of Garagum Desert. En route stop to have short SS of Old Merv (UNESCO). Arrival & accommodation. Lunch & Dinner at local restaurants (if included). O/N in Mary Note: Passports with 2 colored photos will be required for registration at the CTB in Mary

    Return Drive to Geokdepe Morning drive ~75km to Geokdepe via Geokdepe Valley of Kopetdag Mountain. En route stop at International Equestrian Center to familiarize with world famous Turkmen Horses which is known with the name of Akhalteke Horses.

Visit Saparmyrat Khadji Mosque built in Geokdepe Fortress where there is a local museum (entry fees are paid on spot if visited) which demonstrates a heroic defense of Geokdepe in January 1881). Return back to Ashgabat directly ~50km. Afternoon free time. Lunch & Dinner at local restaurants (if included). Overnight in Ashgabat.
  • Day 10 - Ashabat - Kunya - Urgench - Dashoguz - Khiva

    Morning transfer to the Domestic Airport of Ashgabat for flight to Dashoguz. Type of Aircraft Boeing 717-200. Flight T5-101. Departure at 06.10 & arrival at 07.00. (flight time & costs are subject to be change due to Turkmenistan Airlines). Upon arrival drive ~115 km & 2 h/d/dto visit: Koneurgench-the capital of Khorezmshahs (III-XVI cc) inscribed into the World Heritage Book of UNESCO. After SS of Koneurgench drive ~110km & 2 h/d/d to Dashoguz for lunch at local restaurant (if included). After lunch break drive ~15km to Dashoguz/Shavat Border Pass. Cross into Uzbekistan at ~14.30 Transfer to Khiva (Uzbekistan)
  • Day 11 - Khiva

    This city is an open air museum, like Pompeii and Herculaneum. UNESCO has declared Khiva a city reserve and included Khiva’s oldes part Ichan-kala in its World Heritage List
